Composition

Each gram of Kimia Chlortetracycline 20® powder contains 200 mg of chlortetracycline hydrochloride.

Indications

Kimia Chlortetracycline 20® is mainly effective against aerobic and anaerobic Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococci, Streptococci, and Clostridium species, as well as certain Gram-negative bacteria including E. coli, Pasteurella, Haemophilus, and Klebsiella.
It is also effective against Mycoplasma, Rickettsia, Chlamydia, Spirochetes, and some protozoa.

It is used for the prevention, control, and treatment of diseases caused by these microorganisms, including:

  • Colibacillosis, CRD complex, and infectious synovitis

  • Infectious coryza, fowl cholera, and blue comb disease (turkeys)

  • Gastrointestinal infections, microbial diarrhea, and white diarrhea of chicks

Dosage and Administration

20–30 mg of pure chlortetracycline per kg of live body weight per day, or 700–1,000 g of Kimia Chlortetracycline 20® per 1,000 liters of drinking water, for 5–7 days, depending on age and body weight.

Note: Dosage and method of administration may vary according to the type and severity of the disease and should be determined by a veterinarian.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to chlortetracycline and in animals with hepatic or renal insufficiency.

Drug Interactions

Concurrent administration of chlortetracycline with aminoglycosides, macrolides, beta-lactams, and divalent or trivalent cations may result in drug interactions.

Withdrawal Period

  • Poultry: Discontinue use 3–5 days prior to slaughter

  • Laying poultry: Discontinue use 7 days after the last treatment
