Kimia Doxy 50®

Generic Name: Doxycycline 50%

Composition

Each gram of Kimia Doxy 50® powder contains 577 mg of doxycycline hyclate (hydrochloride), equivalent to 500 mg of doxycycline base.

Indications

Indicated for the control, prevention, and treatment of a wide range of diseases caused by doxycycline-sensitive bacteria, including:

  • Colibacillosis

  • Pasteurellosis

  • CRD (Chronic Respiratory Disease)

  • Mycoplasmosis

  • Infectious coryza

  • Staphylococcal and streptococcal infections

Urinary excretion of doxycycline is lower than other tetracyclines; therefore, it is considered a suitable therapeutic option in cases of renal insufficiency.

Dosage and Administration

Poultry

10–20 mg of pure doxycycline per kg of live body weight per day,
or 200–400 g of Kimia Doxy 50® per 1,000 liters of drinking water for 3–5 days, depending on age and body weight.

Turkeys

200–400 g of Kimia Doxy 50® per 1,000 liters of drinking water for 3–5 days.

Note: Dosage and duration of treatment vary according to disease type and severity and should be determined by a veterinarian.

Contraindications

  • Do not use in laying poultry producing eggs for human consumption.

  • Contraindicated in poultry with severe hepatic disorders.

Drug Interactions

Avoid concurrent administration of Kimia Doxy 50® with:

  • Beta-lactams

  • Cephalosporins

  • Aminoglycosides

  • Divalent and trivalent cations such as aluminum, calcium, magnesium, and iron
